our story

Christian World is a Bible-loving, Spirit-filled, Spirit-led, multi-cultural church. It has a beautiful and blessed story. Founded in 1959, it grew from a small home with just a handful of joyful believers who felt that Richardson needed a Christian World. The church enjoyed the blessings of God immediately.

In 1976, Rev. John & Ella Kershaw moved to town with their two teenage chidren, John & Susan. The small church, then on Beltline, began to grow immediately under the fresh and powerful pulpit ministry of Pastor Kershaw. Being raised in the land of Christ's birth gave Pastor Kershaw a special insight into Bible lands and traditions. He shared his rich ministry and the Lord began to add to the church.

It became necessary to move to a new location to accomodate the rapid growth. In 1987, Christian World moved to its current location on 891 Abrams Rd. The beautiful state-of-the-art facility on Abrams is warm, contemporary in style, and rich in Georgian architectural appeal. You will enjoy a freshly renovatated facility. From the first step in, you will notice fresh wall covering, stained concrete, and warm decor.

Pastor Kershaw continues to serve as Bishop, since 2005, when George & Karen Hancock became Senior Pastors. They have continued in the mission of CWC, true to its vison and passion for God, His Spirit, and His people. We continue to enjoy wonderful, encouraging, heart warming services and know that our best is yet to come.
